Sportastic Sunday

I will most definitely start off with Derek Jeter.

Derek Jeter, for as long as I can remember, is an athlete who not only did Yankees' fans fall in love with, but he also captured the eyes of some of the ladies :: wink wink ::

On Saturday July 9, 2011, he has his 3,000th hit in the majors. And the hit was a home-run. Even Jay-Z captured the moment on video! He was even waiting in the locker room (because of course the Jigga Man got it like that) to congratulate Jeter on not only his 3,000th hit, but he also went 5 for 5, including the game-winning run in the 8th inning.

Just in case you were sedated for the weekend here is the interview conducted by the YES (Yankees Entertainment Sports) network-

• Jeter’s historic day at the office made us all feel like little kids again. Or, “It brings you back to a child,” as Jay-Z more succinctly puts it.
• Jeter is a true Yankee, personification of all that makes the game great. “He’s a classic example of a Yankee, a winner,” says Jigga. “Someone who just puts on his hard hat and goes to work every day, and just really wins.” You forgot about the lunch pail, Jay!
• Jeter’s game was so cinematic that no one would have believed it in a movie. “Naw,” Jay answered when asked if Hollywood could’ve scripted the Captain’s performance. “He couldn’t even have woken up and said, ‘I’m gonna go 5-for-5, win the game, hit a homer’…it’s just, it’s a storybook, it’s amazing.”
• Still, the guy who gave Jeter’s 3000th hit back is nuts. After Jay pointed out that he was waiting near the guy who caught the 3000th hit home run ball and gave it back for nothing, the reporter started talking about what a great guy he was to do so. The rapper agreed: “Yes, he’s crazy, but OK…better man than me.”

Jay Z is just a modest billionaire hip hop mogul waiting to pay his respects with a quick handshake. Gotta love it!

Empire State of.... Mind-y! Ha!
