Big Pimpin'

Look real close.

Do you know who that is?

That's Sean Corey Carter, of course.

Or JAY-Z.

This man has done a lot in his 41 years on this planet. He is probably one of the most influential hip hop, no scratch that, musical artists of all time. And he married Beyonce how I don't know. Jigga man is busted. Ballin, but busted.

Vegas is on and poppin for New Year's Eve (and many other night but ESPECIALLY New Year's Eve) and the huge billboards displaying who will be performing here is hard to miss. So as I drove along Las Vegas Blvd and noticed the new Cosmopolitan Hotel, I wondered who was going to play there since it's so swanky in there.

Sure enough, Jay-Z will be performing there and he was reportedly paid ONE MILLION DOLLARS for his performance. Holy mother of money! I saw Jay Z live last year and he puts on one hell of show!

You go Jigga man! Jigga what? Jigga who? Jigga big pimpin. Jigga will be my sunshine...ok I'm done with the Jay-Z song references.......

Blizzard, Beauty, Buffet, Baffled

I know-I'm late it's almost midnight and I haven't blogged and part of my resolution was to step up my blog game. But, hey, it's still 12/27 in my eyes.

First topic----BLIZZARD.

I was woken up by all the beautiful winter wonderland facebook posts!!! I am slightly jealous! Although my brother said he shoveled til his fingers fell off-womp.

Next------Beauty.

I got a pedicure. Nuff said.

Next up is Buffet.

Today the family and I hit up the Red Rock Casino here in Summerlin, Nevada and since there is a special for the month of December (6.99 lunch buffet-very tasty) we decided to hit that up for lunch after the museum. Alex ate til he puked. Nuff said.

Baffled. Why?

As I was winding down and catching up on Monday Night Football, I stumbled upon a quote from the Governor of Pennsylvania. On Sunday night, the Vikings/Eagles game was postponed until Tuesday night because of the blizzard that was about to smack the Northeast. Turns out Philly only got 5 inches of snow and the Governor Ed Rendell (D) responded by saying, and I quote....

"We've become a nation of wussies. The Chinese are kicking our butt in everything. If this was in China, do you think the Chinese would have called off the game? People would have been marching down to the stadium, they would have walked and they would have been doing calculus on the way down."

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this guy should STFU, like many other politicians out there.

On the day after Christmas, my true love gave to me...

Today is Sunday December 26 and what is so great about a Sunday in December...FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a blizzard on the eastern seaboard that's going in hard which has made the Vikings/Eagles game move to Tuesday.

Here on the west coast, I am watching the Jets/Bears game and its quite the nail biter. It's been a see saw, but the Jets are up 21-17 and its halftime. The Dolphins are up (miracle) 17-10. The Patriots are spanking the Bills 24-3 and the Chiefs are beating the Titans 24-7.

In NBA news, the fricken Magic beat the Celtics and the stupid Lakers lost to the Heat. The Magic snapped the Celtics 14 game winning streak on Christmas Day while celebs like Tiger Woods looked on.

Enough about sports because I'm getting pissed now. On my flight to Vegas, I saw a movie called "Ramona and Beezus" which starred Selena Gomez and Tom Brady's baby momma, Bridget Moynahan. It was cute, but since that only took 2 hours, the flight started playing tv shows, one of which was 30 Rock. That ish was funny. I don't know why I haven't been watching it(maybe my reality tv addiction had something to do with it) but I will from now on make every attempt to watch it.

Next topic....the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS SALES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of these sales are off the chain. Of course Macy's will be holding it down, as well as Target, and Kohl's(not a HUGE fan but they aight). Gamestop has a sale-all used games are buy 2 get 1 free which isn't bad for my Alex. I just wish airlines would have these kind of sales.......damn recession!

It's Christmas Morning!

Today is December 25, 2010!! I can't frickin' believe it. The year is almost over, this crappy year is almost over, I should say. Today I woke up to my phone going off about 17 times-east coast folks not thinking for people on vacation on the west coast-but it was all "Merry Christmas" mass texts. A great way to wake up! Tomorrow the fam and I will probably hit up Target or a dollar store so we can buy Christmas stuff 75% off for our home here. Right now its a crisp 49 degrees out with not a cloud in the sky! I love this weather. The fam and I are in our fleece pajama pants and warming up with the heater on. My mom is obssessed with being thin so she went for a walk, while Alex is playing a new video game, Abby is reading all cozied up in bed, and Gustavo went back to sleep. I love Christmas because everything is closed which forces you to chill out at least one day with the family!

Merry Christmas :)

Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!!

I have decided that I have slacked on the blog scene, so I am back due to popular demand. I am in Las Vegas now and the weather is perfect-not too cold, not hot. Earlier was family and present time over at my uncle's house and Alex opened his gifts already. Some are still in Florida because I didn't want him to take too many things on the flight back home.

Here in Vegas things are chillin'. There is no traffic and I even went to target and other stores and no rude people, cashiers were actually doing their job , and found parking easily.

Alex got a new Phineas and Ferb(LOVE THEM) DVD and we are watching it together while he is dazing in and out of sleep. He had a great Christmas and can't wait to relax tomorrow and just chill around the house!

XOXO

Another School Year Is About To Embark...

and I can't believe it. I am 30. Alex is 8 and starting 3rd grade. THIRD GRADE. It's an amazing feeling, but this time of year is bittersweet for me. I am usually sensitive about my boy, but at the start of the school year, it's worse. Just him getting older is hard to take. Weird, I know.

But at the same time, there are some off the chain sales. Macy's definitely hooked it up over the weekend and so did JCPenney. It was tax-free weekend on clothes and other supplies for school, but it was a hott mess at the mall. I don't deal with crowds too well.

Teachers across many states are reporting back to work this week for the calm before the storm storm=kids.

I saw at Wal-Mart in the hood there are "The Beatles" notebooks and folders. I MUST GO!

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beer Holder

This saying isn't just for women. It goes for everyone. It's also not about people, as it can also be about home decor. Art Deco looks so modern and cool on the Ikea catalog, but it's not me. I love earth tones, and throw blankets, snuggies jk, random vases, and maroon + dark cherry colored interior for the home. Pretty much stuff you can buy at www.kirklands.com

As for the boys department-well, I've been known not to like the "eye candy" type. Sure, I like the American boys from North Carolina or Boston, but my ex-boyfriend is Cuban-American and so is my son's father. I got to know them before dating them and that's what attracted me along with plenty Captain and Cokes. I know it sounds cliche' but it's really not all about the exterior. Scenario 1:

They have to prove that they are something worthwhile on the inside also. Let's say they are corporate attorneys-GREAT FOR THEM. They set their eyes on something IMPORTANT and achieved it. Now they are cheating on their wife. SMH.

Scenario 2:

Pretty woman walking by the street. She's a successful professional working(whether she has a degree or not) and she knows how to have a good time. Problem is-she DOESN'T know when to stop having a good time-drinking and partying til she blacks out EVERY TIME. Jesus take the wheel.

Scenario 3:

Not so good looking guy approaches you at the bar. Great personality with a great job and shows an interest in you and nice to your friends too. Your friends mock you and think he is fugs. Seriously who cares. You aren't in elementary school anymore and your friends opinion shouldn't matter THAT much. Of course, they are there through thick and thin and will help guide you through the worse times, but if they can't get passed how they look, they need to LOOK at themselves. heffas

As I stated, Beauty is the eye of the beholder. That is all.

The Real World

The Real World has been alive and kickin' since 1992 when it started in New York with Kevin, Julie, Eric, Heather, Andrew, and Norman. MTV chose random people to live together without tv or radio for a certain period of time. All these years later, it's still going pretty strong. It has had its boring seasons London circa 1994 snoozefest and dramatic ones Chicago 2001 9/11 but all in all it's been pretty good entertainment.

Over the Spring, MTV went back to New Orleans to shoot The Real World and now we are watching what transpired during those months. Let's see what has happened. Here is the cast from left to right:

Eric-He's hot. That is all.

Sahar-She's so sweet, exotic, and not one to really shy away from people and other views. Love her.

Ryan-This boy needs to come out of the closet instead of hiding himself in it.

McKenzie-She seems a little loose, but hey, she is living it up in the Big Easy!

Knight-He's a weird bully type asshole when he gets drunk. Leave it to him to hide behind the alcohol. Hope he gets an ass woopin.

Jemmye- This dumb broad IS The Big Easy. Nuff said.

Ashlee-She is one of the top female athletes at Northeastern University in my beloved Boston. But she's originally from NJ represent!

Preston-He is openly gay Ryan take note and it funny as hell. He can chill with the boys and can relate to the girls. I like him. He seems down

So far, I'm interested and will probably continue to watch and am kind of excited for the reunion pena.

Side note: This is what Wikipedia wrote for Jemmye's Bio.

Despite growing up from a conservative Southern Baptist Community, Jemmye is a supporter of gay marriage and the legalization of marijuana. She enjoys drinking and casual sex, and prefers black men, as her roommate, Knight, is the first Caucasian man for her to sleep with in Episode 3. She is close to her mother, Alice, in whom she confides all the intimate details of her life (one of Jemmye's six tattoos honors her mother's victory over breast cancer), though she hasn't told her about the abusive she recently ended with Mississippi State basketball player Kodi Augustus. She and Knight enter what they insist is a casual sexual relationship, but it experiences complications due to Jemmye's ambiguity over Kodi, and deepens feelings between her and Knight.

SMDH at this one.

All the ladies who independent..throw your hands up at me!

Ladies, do your thang!

If you're in a rotten relationship, leave him. The sooner you leave him the sooner you'll get over his ass.
If you're in college, get that diploma! No matter how long it takes you!
If you're single, live it up. No one is holding you down sista!
If you're happily married, make sure he is too.
If you're dealing with an asshole, get rid of him. You already have one. You don't need another.
If you're a good mom, the daily payment of love can and will never be replaced.
If you're happy with yourself, don't change for anyone.

Always remember: Haters are confused admirers. Forget what ya heard!
